Shibas love to eat! In Japan, where Shibas originate from, they often eat table left overs for their meals. In the USA, dry dog food is usually the feed of choice. Eating the right foods is important to a Shiba's health and to maintain their beautiful fur coat. Here are some things your Shiba SHOULD NOT eat!
No Garlic
No Onions
No Grapes
No Chocolate
No Old Sweaty Socks...J/K
Bincho The Picky Eater...Sort of!
Mr. Bincho, our 2 year old Shiba loves to eat. Getting him to eat anything however is a chore. He usually waits to eat his dry dog food until AFTER he knows there are no better options for him. Some items we thought he wouldn't eat - he loves. Here are some of his favorite foods
Steamed Broccoli
Grilled or Broiled Fish (ANY FISH!)
Cheddar Cheese
Ham & Salami
Tomatoes (w/ mayo)
Peeled Apples (NO SKIN!)
Peanuts & Peanut Butter
Sugar Cookies
SHIBA TIME!!
You need to spend time with your Shiba otherwise they will get lonely. Also, take your Shiba for frequent walks and play with them!
